Prop fundamental equity desk or a risk arb desk. Not sure what banks have a risk arb desk but I know goldman and Citi do. You know much about risk arb? Its pretty interesting.

depends on a HF , but generally sell side trading and buy side trading are different. If you're on a flow market making desk in a bank you may not be of much value to HFs. Experience on a Quantative Strtegies or Structuring desk may be more valuable. Prop trading desks experience is more directly transferable to HF, since prop desks are small HFs within a bank ...
