Big 4 Accounting Partner Helps with Consulting Spot?

So I told an alumni at my school who is a partner in the accounting arm of a Big 4 that I was interested in entering their advisory arm and if he knew of someone helpful I could talk to. He offered to speak with my on the phone.

I'm a couple years out of school doing something not business related.

Obviously it's great to be able to get him on the phone, but what do you think about his ability to help? Thanks

If he has contacts in the consulting practice then it wouldn't be a problem helping you get a position there. I personally had an experience where I also knew an alumnus who was a partner at a big 4 in the tax practice that was willing to help me break into the advisory practice through his personal contacts. It's all about the network my friend.

Cool, thanks, obviously going to take the phone call seriously and try out all angles. My school seems to be pretty helpful alumni wise, my friend emailed a partner at an accounting firm thinking it was a law firm asking for a paralegal internship, and he still got him an accounting internship anyway haha.
