Unlike U.S. or Europe, there seems only a limited number of
merchant banks or boutiques in the Asia region.
Can anyone tell me what merchant banks or boutiques are out there in Asia,
preferably in Hong Kong?
Not that I'm looking for those non-existent small local shops,
but those with significant, or some at least, recognition and size.

There are so many. For Hong Kong you can try hongkong and shanghai bank, or bank of china. It also has some boutiques but they are not comparable to firms like Lazard. Singapore has 3 banks, that's all. China has a dozen really big merchant banks which have larger market value than many in the US or Europe, although it's because of the hit in 2008.
