Buy-side research
So, I am interviewing at an Asset Management firm for a research role. I will be assigned to a team that manages about 3 funds , total worth about 1.2 Billions. there are 3 more analysts, and a portfolio manager (just for those 3 funds). There are more people working on other funds.
I am planning on doing an MBA starting fall 2012.
So, guys what do you think, I am a Life Actuarial right now ( 9 months) and before that 5 months in "quant" finance. So this would be my THIRD job. I am afraid that this would affect negatively when I apply for the MBA, moreover, i am expecting getting promoted in here next march...
so what do you guys think? especially:
1. are the skills in such jobs really helpful in getting an IB/PE job after the MBA. Woudl i have more chances of getting into a top mba if i do 2 years in the fund or if i get promoted in here? there arent that many actuarials applying so less competition.
2. Is the new job good enough for getting a buy-side research position in the States or the UK after the MBA (how good is that career)
3. How could I explain this once i apply for the MBAs, and even after the MBA, how will I explain that I changed so many jobs to recruiters
