BlackStone Private Equity - How to make it
Can somebody please share some insights into the hiring process for the private equity group with Blackstone?
For somebody who is considering moving into banking based role from engineering, is it almost close to impossible to move straight in to PE?
If so, what would be a normal approach towards ending up in PE? Especially with a firm with the stature of Blackstone.
.
Hahhahahah. I get the point you tried to make there

How many straight-out-of-undergrad analysts do they hire each year?
A recruiter told me they had a target of 10-12 this year for London including Real Estate but excluding RX and Corp Fin Advisory.
What is Corp fin advisory? Do you mean IB advisory, or am i completely off course?
2-4 for PE in London (this year). this depends if they find that many they like. if not then they might hire zero. depends really
corporate buyout that is
What about NYC? How many do they hire?
corp fin advisory = m&a
3-5 in NYC this year.
they hire more into RE than into normal PE I think
I think they only hired one into RE in London this year.
what about summer analysts in nyc?
As I said if the dont find anybody they like (at least in London) they will hire zero for PE. Guess this year that was the case then
^^ Wow, HR at campus events give very optimistic figures. I guess many people won't apply if they're told that there is just one position up for grabs.
Blackstone PE Associates (Originally Posted: 02/04/2011)
Anyone know where Blackstone PE associates came from this year? Are they mostly promoted BX PE and lateraled M&A/restructuring Analysts or do they recruit from the other top banks for associates as well? they seem to have a really small junior team even compared to other top PE firms so it might make sense for them to hire all internally
bump
BX PE - Summer 2013 (Originally Posted: 01/19/2013)
Just curious - can anyone in the class of 2011 shed light on whether or not BX went through recruitment this past week for associates to join Summer 2013? Just curious given that they have a well established PE analyst program that already feeds into b schools and senior analyst promotions, as well as M&A/R&R groups that feed a small number into the PE program as well, so not sure if BX is looking externally anymore.
Not a troll post (I'm already in PE), but just interested in the evolving recruiting landscape for BX.
