BlackStone Private Equity - How to make it

Can somebody please share some insights into the hiring process for the private equity group with Blackstone?
For somebody who is considering moving into banking based role from engineering, is it almost close to impossible to move straight in to PE?
If so, what would be a normal approach towards ending up in PE? Especially with a firm with the stature of Blackstone.

A recruiter told me they had a target of 10-12 this year for London including Real Estate but excluding RX and Corp Fin Advisory.

What is Corp fin advisory? Do you mean IB advisory, or am i completely off course?
