CAREER OPTIONS: REIB Versus Commercial RE Brokerage
Looking into different career options at this point as I am about a year and a half into my analyst role with a MM REPE firm in Buffalo, NY. Want to get down to the NYC and have been exploring both options. I know the paths are largely different but both seem to be pretty lucrative. Anyone have advice on the pay, lifestyle, exit opps, etc.? Much appreciated.
Out of curiosity why do you want to leave PE for sell side?
compensation on buy side is very low at most places at the analyst level
would like to hear from OP but would you mind elaborating some more kmzz? that might be true in tertiary markets at smaller shops but I would think that a reputable NYC firm would offer comp similar to banking
anyone else care to comment on the above? input welcomed
@magnanoa I'm curious how you ended up in REPE (I assume straight out of college)? I have been under the impression, to break into PE usually you have to begin in IB. Thanks.
OP: What is your current comp/bonus etc?
