From reading previous threads, it seems like CT shirts are the way to go for internships. Also from the threads, they seem to have sales often.
What was the biggest sale that you've seen for CT? Also, anyone other advice for internship attire? Best suit brands, tie brands, types of shirts (striped/solid), etc.? (I have nothing in my wardrobe yet)
Cheers, all.
Also, any opinions on the type of fit to get, (if you're skinny and lanky): "slim fit", "trim fit", "traditional fit", etc.
I rock the white shirts from Nordstrom
Best price I've paid per shirt at CT was $29.99 (I've only seen it once), otherwise between $40-50. I get the extra slim fit and it's no where near too small (5'10" athletic build 185). Suits from suitsupply. Ties from Brooks Brothers and typical department stores.
You really can't go wrong with them. Not T&A quality or anything, but easily the best value shirt on jermyn street.
Found the fit and quality very close to Brooks Brothers. Would definitely recommend.
For ties, thetiebar.com should be your go-to. Shoes, look at Cole Haan or Johnston & Murphy. Shirts, I like Dillard's Roundtree & Yorke Gold Label shirts myself, but I have heard nothing but good things about CT. Stick to solid white and light blue (no button down collars obviously). Suits - Indochino gets good reviews, I have also heard good things about BB outlet suits.
It seems like their recent sale is over. Does anyone know when their next sale usually occurs?
4 shirts for $199 is a very solid deal, and I feel they have those pretty regularly
@TexasOutlaw: clutch on thetiebar.com link.
Couple of quick questions: Would wearing a tieclip everyday be okay? Thoughts on cufflinks? (I was never a fan of them)
Thanks for the responses, as always.
What I gather from reading around, its best to avoid cufflinks. Even more so since you don't like them. I'm on the same boat as you and would never wear them. I'm not sure about the tie clips, though, and would like to hear some feedback on that since I just bought one.
Ixnay on the tie clip. They are not really conservative - more of a modern thing.
I usually picture tie clips being worn with a really slim fit suit with small lapels (i.e. modern).
And definitely no cufflinks.

I'm considering buying a few of them online, as they don't have any locations on the west coast. I was wondering what everyone thinks of their quality...
Their 180's are money.
i was thinking something along the lines of their standard shirts. I'm still a soon-to-be first year.
my favorite shirts
Personally, I prefer T.M. Lewin, bit cheaper but a more comfortable fit in my humble opinion.
I heard the 180s cannot be dry cleaned as frequently as other fabrics. Is this true?
Why would you dry clean cotton? You can wash them. Dry cleaning is like giving your clothing a perm, at least that is what my favorite homosexual salesman tells me. Do not dry clean a suit more than twice a year, and go organic if you can.
after wearing suits int ehs ummer its hard not to dry clean them b/c its so hot everywhere
i just bought a couple and i like the quality, their slim-fit shirts fit nice
Great shirts.
Cheap too, you can find them on sale for around 20 pounds a piece. Patterns are good, but not fantastic.
They are cheap and nasty, apart from the SIQ and then only on a genuine sale...not their fake artificial JAB style offers.
I have a few. They are fine. Probably a small step up in quality from Brooks. I like Thomas Pink slims much more, although they are pricy.
You can find Turnbull & Asser slims on sale at Century 21 on rare occasions. If you see one, get it - I have 2 and consider them to be the gold standard for quality.
