The New York Times had a scathing review of the Storm.
I read that review as well. If you want a touch screen, go with the iPhone. The keyboard is what BlackBerry does best, so I'd pick the Bold. (I'm a current user of the Bold and I absolutely love it. Definitely worth the $300 spent.)

storm is slow, shabby looking, and just not the productivity beast that Blackberry is known for.

I feel like no banker would be caught dead generating deal leads on an iphone -- so the same goes for the storm. I am a bold user, and while I appreciate the nifty aspects of the storm, I think that the bold is meant for business.
not exactly sure what makes you say that; majority of the senior bankers at my firm have iphones.
storm seems subpar across the board, but don't understand the hate on the iphone -- because it doesn't have a keyboard?
I'm still faithful to my curve. Although, I've seen a few analysts walking around with the bold.
In my opinion, it doesn't matter which one is better. Just remember that you must not have a blackberry that is newer/cooler than your MD's. It also must not be subpar because then you're MD will think you are slow, careless and unprofessional. Imagine pulling up an email in a client meeting in front of ur MD and ur team using an 8700c!!
If they start canning people, I know the analysts with the newest or oldest BBs will be the first to go.
My MD's still rock out with the 8300 and 8800 series. So I make sure to keep it real and fresh with my curve.

Most of the MD's I know still rock firm-issued 7250's. They only use it for one purpose, to send you one-line, ambigious emails that can be openly interpreted and will cause you late nights.
i.e. "Can u have model ready by AM? Tx."
i got the iphone for my own phone to check my personal e-mails, browse facebook, and use gchat/aim at work. the IT blocks all social networking sites, web-based e-mails, and online chat programs. so far, i think the iphone is hands down the best phone to browse the internet and chat online.
still will carry around the company bb around though. the iphone will never replace the e-mail on a bb
on another topic: does anyone know of any methods around the website blocks set up by IT? i'd really like a way to be able to check my personal e-mail and online chat on a big monitor instead of on the iphone. trying to salvage the little connection i still have to the outside world.......
We used to have a website that allowed you to route around the filter for Gmail using some sort of cached mirror site, but IT found out about it after a few months and shut it down.
My firm just adopted the iPhone for business use and now I'm pretty much just using my iPhone. I don't really write lengthy emails remotely anymore, though, and I'm pretty fast with the iPhone keyboard now.
haha, you've hijacked the thread, but just search "anonymous proxy" in google. there are literally hundreds, but you'll have mixed luck with gmail i believe.
most firms have policies on trying to circumvent firewalls. having internet freedom is not worth getting fired over.
