Hi I'm starting as a credit analyst in London next month. Can anyone on here tell me what to expect on my first day and some general information about the tasks I will be doing?

On your first day you will do
On your first day you will do no work at all..and probably so for your first week. In the course of your first week you can expect a bunch of things: fill out paperwork, meet your entire team along with various other teams, be assigned a desk and computer, get all your logins/email, choose your benefits, set up your direct deposit, they will probably give you free food your first few days as well. I am not sure whether or not you are going through training or if you are a off season hire or part of an analyst class but you can expect the training to happen then, training being either classroom training to teach you about credit and/or all the banks trainings you need to complete (anti money laundering, risk, etc.), which are done usually via a webex or through a my learning type deal.
Unless of course you are a lateral hire in which case you will have to do all this stuff on the side while jumping into some sort of work in the first day or two.
In the long run, you will be doing credit analysis on a certain industry and looking at how strong a company is and writing a credit memo based on all of your research recommending the extension of credit or not and how much. In most cases your group will be the ones underwriting the credit facility- wether it is revolvers, term loans, or more exotic deals depending on the bank (financing planes, making sub debt investments, M&A bridge loans, etc)
