Credit Suisse Credit Investments Group

Does anyone have any additional information about this group? Would this be worthwhile for an analyst in IBD looking to ultimately work with Distressed Debt / Credit funds / HFs or not so much? Just trying to get a sense for how legitimate an opportunity like this would be.

Saw a much older post on the forum but haven't been able to find much elsewhere.

Description:
The Credit Suisse Credit Investments Group (“CIG”), a business unit of the Asset Management Division of CS, is an industry leader in managing over $25 billion in non-investment grade credit assets across bank loan, high yield bond and opportunistic credit portfolios. CIG is one of the largest leveraged credit managers in the US and Western Europe, with an accomplished full-service group of dedicated career credit professionals located in New York and London. The investment process is predicated on bottom-up credit selection, which has generated favorable risk adjusted returns with lower relative volatility than the benchmark.

Former CS intern here. Not sure where you're finding this info, but CS is actually looking to pare down their AM division. CFIG (VC/PE arm) was sold this summer, Strategic Partners (Secondary PE / Fundraising group) was sold earlier this year to Blackstone. I don't have firsthand experience working in these groups but from what I understand they are comprised mainly of senior people and are very top heavy (translation: not a good fit for an IB analyst).

I would recommend you look elsewhere because CS is going through a period of shedding risky assets and this includes activity in the HF/PE space. Don't let this discourage you though. CS AM has an amazing alumni network in top buyside shops and elsewhere, just do a little research and reach out to them if you have any questions.

If this is London's I wouldn't look too hard at it too, one of their few senior guys left is looking to move soon.
