Hey WSO, This is my first post so I thought I throw in a small introduction. I am a rising junior going to non-target, majoring in finance. I was thinking about trying to go into corporate finance after I graduate. Hopefully by getting a position in a F500 FLDP
Which brings me to my question for next summer would it be better for me to try and get a corporate internship, particularly with a company that has a FDLP that I might be interested in later and start building a network within that company. Alternatively due to some good ole fashion nepotism I could get an IB internship with a reputable boutique in my area. What do you guys think? I know that the skills I learn in IB will be helpful no matter what I end up doing but I was wondering if someone with knowledge of fdlps (particularly tech ones) might have an opinion.
The reason I'm posting now is that in the fall I will be doing a study abroad and want to a better idea of what my plan should be and whether I will have to be in the internship hunt while abroad via the internet.

With your end goal in mind, this would be best if you want to work at this company.

Sounds good if you don't get the corporate internship.

I only really know about a few FLDPs and they are both F50 and very selective. For these, you generally need to intern with the company to have the best chance at getting into the program full-time. In the company I am at, they don't care about the reputation of your undergrad school, just that you have over a 3.5 and most people who get in have pretty good ECs and internship experience to speak of.
If you are dead set on going for a FLDP, I would find the company you want to work for and try to get in for next summer. However, if you want to keep your options open, an IB internship is going to look good just about anywhere.
3.5+ GPA, strong ECs (leadership positions), and an internship at the company that's doing the FLDP.

DB Corp Finance. UBS in the US is a second tier investment bank.
I'd put them on the same tier here...if you can get into DB LevFin, go DB. Same goes for UBS FSLF. Honestly, they will both open you to the same opportunities. Both global BBs.

Do any of the groups you are interested in (at either bank) have people you and like in them? Quite frankly, your experience at either bank is likely to be about the same, so to the best that you can, you should figure out which suits you better.
