Deloitte Immersion Program
If you were to be a career switcher going into a top MBB school, would being involved in Deloitte's Immersion program be a good thing or a bad thing? I can see that MBB may possibly like being able to have people who have a 'clear' mind about consulting not influenced by other firms methods, or would this add value showing that youre truly interested? Or would it depend on the MBB
And also, is Deloitte THAT bad for consulting? I realize that it probably doesnt have the same PE exit opps (at all?) but what if you wanted to go onto the industry side? I saw the pay was pretty similar to BCG or Bain coming out of b school but not sure how much it diverges later on
To tell you the truth I really don't think Deloitte is bad at all. I would be just as proud having that name on my business card as I would if it was one of the MBB's. The pay is relatively the same and the industry exit ops are comparable.
I was on ConsultingMag this morning, and even thought it was released in May, (I know this next point may be old news to you experienced consulting guys, but i'm still a newbie) I saw a Deloitte Principal on the top 25 consultant list for 2011. He took a $60M/year practice in 2004 and turned it into a $1.6B/year, and that is just the D.C office. To me that just shows its a powerful organization and as long as you make sure that you do good work you will be recognized for it.
With regards to exit ops "later on down the road" does it even matter if you worked at an MBB, or Deloitte, or CAPCO, or RB or ATK, or whatever... if you are still going to have to use your skills and your network to slide into C-Level somewhere... does it really even matter? Is it just prestige-whoring?
but this is just me on the bottom of the consulting totum pole ranting...
ill admit im pretty blind when it comes to all this since im a prop trader now and probably going for investment management at b s chool but i like the idea of the travel (which im sure everyone thinks is cool at first but then changes their mind haha) and the dynamic aspect of consulting as well as the strategy thinking so i might look into doing the DCIP program..
so still nno one answered -- does doing the DCIP make you better or worse off for getting a role at MBB

Have any of you been to this summit or heard any reviews of this summit? I'm heading to M7 next year and am wondering if this would be worth the time. Considering all expenses are paid, I would imagine it's at least worth applying.
Has anyone heard of MBB having similar programs?
Isn't it a little late to apply?
Yes. The summit was a month ago; applications due way back in March.
@"AnalyzeThat" Don't worry about. Very few people end of going (or even know) about these type of programs. Enjoy your summer and good luck with 1Y.
@brj I don't start school until Aug of 2015, so I was asking for next year's summit.
How do you know where you're going to school already? 2+2 or Booth Scholar?
In that case, if you're interested in consulting, go for it. There are 4-5 firms with summer connect or immersion programs now (BCG, Bain, PwC, Deloitte). There was a thread covering all of them that was active about a month ago.
Early admission is a beautiful thing!
If you happen to remember any key words that would help me find this thread, it would be greatly appreciated. I tried searching and found conferences for ADC but nothing for pre-MBA.
Certainly worth applying, but acceptance rate is 2-5%....and it seems tilted towards non-traditional candidates.
Anyone going to to the Meet DC event in NYC on July 17th?
