Monitor Acquired By Deloitte
Any thoughts on how Deloitte buying Monitor will change the power shift among consulting firms? From my understanding, Deloitte's Strategy/Operations line is acquiring Monitor; does this position them to make a run for Tier 1 or elite Tier 2 status?
I noticed that acquisition today as well.
My forecast: No change.
Wanna hear my guesses on WTI for 2014 and S&P 500? "About the same."
Deloitte also bought Bersin, which I think honestly will make a bigger difference to their HC practice (where they are very successful) as Bersin was the market leader. Monitor has been sliding for awhile (check out Firms Consulting's articles on them).

Agreed. WIthin a short time the people from Monitor who could have left will be gone. The ones left will not be those to build a strategy practice around and the net result will have been the removal of Monitor from the space.

This will help Deloitte's S&O practice. What do you all think?
Very old news. There are a multitude of threads discussing this topic.
Did Deloitte's Acquisition of Monitor Change Anything? (Originally Posted: 06/06/2013)
I think the title says it all, but to expand, how does Deloitte stack up against MBB now that it has acquired a firm with a more 'strategic' focus? Does the fact that Monitor first declared bankruptcy affect the group's reputation - for example, will clients still be interested in having Monitor Deloitte advise them if Monitor seemingly couldn't take care of its own business?
What do you think?
I heard through the grapevine that quite a bit of Monitor partners left to MBB prior to the acquisition by Deloitte. However, I believe that Deloitte did acquire Monitor's proprietary tools/materials so from that point of view, I think that have narrowed the gap between themselves and MBB.
However, at the end of the day, I dont think they will catch up with MBB in a strategy service sense. Deloitte will most likely continue doing heavy technology based work and will maintain their current strategy market share.
What tools/materials are you referring to?
