DIversity sophomore summer internships
Hi all,
I'm currently a rising sophomore with a 3.4 at a semi target starting to look for a good internship next summer (rising junior) to eventually hopefully get an analyst position at a BB summer before my senior year. I've heard of/found a few programs specifically for minorities at a few BB and wanted to know how serious/beneficial they are? Also wanted to see how competitive it is to get those positions. Or if I would have a better experience trying to work at a smaller firm next summer. For the record I'm technically "Hispanic" and applied to college as such, however I look completely white and come from a privileged background (so not sure that I'm really the poster-boy for internships aimed at encouraging diversity)
Hey trapboytwin, sorry about the delay, but are any of these useful:

You're welcome.
Very helpful! Appreciate it

These are highly competitive. I am diversity and went through the sophomore process last year with a 3.8, semi target, came up with nothing. Heard anecdotally that BBs each had max of 10-12 spots (NYC) for sophomores and they get thousands of applications. That said, apply anyway, you never know. Some firms may have a 3.5 cutoff.
Most sophomores do either PWM at a BB or boutique IB, both are good experience and well regarded for junior internships.
Thanks for the info eloquence. I figured they would be pretty sought after and competitive but I'll definitely give it a shot. If not I'll try and go the boutique route for sure

Would it be wrong to say that you are LBGT just to get the interview at all the bulge brackets that only give out sophomore internships to LGBT and minorities?
They usually ask you to prove it. Be prepared.
Let me rephrase your question: "Would it be wrong to blatantly lie to a potential employer?"
Some people.....
its ok if ure ok with being part of that organization and have everyone knowing it. u also have to be part of the lgbt recruiting team. unsure if u have to speak on behalf of the organization or not, but u may have to at recruiting events.
