How often do ER analysts/associates switch careers to corporate strategy or development? It seems as though a lot of the skills and knowledge you'd gain in ER could be applicable in-house at a F500. Are there times during one's career where the move is common? And which level positions would you transition into?

I don't think its that
I don't think its that uncommon...at my company (F500 tech) there are two guys that I know that have joined strategy / development teams...one at a very senior level and the other at a mid-manager level. So it's definitely possible and can definitely happen at varying career stages.
Well, you spend a lot of time
Well, you spend a lot of time in ER networking (trade/industry shows, meet and greets, etc etc). If you utilize the shit out of those opportunities, you can build a strong network, and if you decide you want to jump ship youve already built up a stock of people that you've built relationships with. That's like 95% of the battle. Then you go through all the people you've met with emails/phone calls saying "Im looking at making a move, talk to me?"
It probably works best for people who have been in for at least 2-3+ years because they have a strong network, and the people they've networked with KNOW that they know the industry. The real issue comes in timing, so maybe plan on spending 12-18 months working on people. Jobs don't always pop up in strat/dev, so you have to make sure people know you're looking without pissing off the people you're working for.
