How are jobs in academia viewed for MBA admissions?
Are jobs in academia (not teaching) looked down upon for MBA admissions? For example, if it's a data/budget analysis position for an internal department of the university.
That would not be a job in academia. Academia refers to teaching, research, learning, etc. If you're the janitor at Harvard, do you work in academia? No. Same situation.
A university is simply a company. Would data/budget analysis experience be sought-after by b-schools if it was at company that wasn't a uni? I don't know, but that is a better question.

Alternatively, one could say that working in Corporate Finance at McDonalds does not mean you flip burgers for a living.
No offense but that's not an academia job. And no, it will not help you for top b-school admissions. It needs to be either teaching or serious research to give your app a major boost.
