Hi guys,
I was wondering how much can salespeople make on a real-term basis.
Can they actually make a lot of money, like most guides out there claim?

It depends on the sales. Most of my friends and family are involved in the sales profession and it greatly varies. Venture capital sales and hedge fund raisers is the most lucrative and these sales guys can make seven figures plus. Telemarketers at the low end make $8 an hour. Sales is the most merit based profession out there, you will get paid on how well you can sell. Sales is also part of most start-ups and successful serial entrepreneurs do very well financially.
In finance, S&T guys make about what turtle says plus bonuses. I personally am more into the asset management side of finance, but sales skills are always useful (especially when I'll need to raise capital for starting a fund eventually).

My broke friend says he is in "sales" and works as a telemarketer, while another family friend who also says he is in sales (medical equipment) has a yacht. It really depends

People tend to think life is a race with other people. They don't realize that every moment they spend sprinting towards the finish line is a moment they lose permanently, and a moment closer to their death.

That seems a bit high overall - I thought it was standard 70K + 10k signing bonus still?
I'd love if I get a 60-80k bonus my first year in S&T...
