How to respond?

I applied for a position at an consulting firm a few weeks ago. I got through to the initial interview stage and I did very well, as at the end I asked the HR rep about next steps and she mentioned, sending an email to check my availability for interview next week. I thought it was odd that she didnt just check my availability then but perhaps thats how they do things.

Anyway, I wait for several days and nothing. I email her and she mentions the hiring manager is pushing with another candidate but "I should bide my time".

Now I have no idea what this means. I emailed her again twice but no response. The position and office has several roles so I want to keep pushing but dont want to be annoying. I emailed last Friday and nothing.

I know there are several positions so I'm definitely in with a shot. I was just wondering how everyone would proceed here. Shall I email her again? Or call her instead?
Thoughts?

EDIT: Fixed typo.

You sent her two more emails after she told you to be patient? And now you want to send her a third even though she hasn't responded to the first two?

Well, no. I was simply hoping to find out whether the initial mention of an interview may lead to something. And because there are positions there, I wanted to remain in contention. In my experience, you're never considered when they tell you they'll retain your details on file.

You should seriously reread everything you write several times before sending it out or posting it here. Most of what you write is borderline incomprehensible.

Fuck you very much.

I'm dead serious.

Ex: What does this even mean? "I know there are several positions to I definitely am in with a shot."

Have you noticed that every single person in this thread misunderstood at least something that you wrote? Do you wonder why you're not getting legitimate answers?

Be an asshole if you want, but if you want actual help, writing in a coherent fashion would be a good start.

One person misunderstood something.

That example, although slightly awkwardly expressed, still permits someone to understand. There are several positions at the firm and I know I'm in with a shot. The 'to' was a typo from 'so'. Instead of being overly critical, if you have constructive feedback to my question, I'm all ears otherwise just fuck off dude.

Just to confirm, I didnt send another email. I sent a total of 2 emails since she told me she'll get back to me but spaced over the week. I'll leave it for the moment. I guess the boat's probably sailed on me being pushy but I know they like me as I killed the phone interview.

It is constructive feedback and although it may not apply to this particular situation, it's absolutely vital to survive in the workplace. If you're asking someone for help, you want to make it as easy and as pleasant as possible to be helped.

If someone is nice enough to give you advice, telling them to fuck off or pick apart their argument is also not advisable.

Side note: I have know idea what "I'm in with a shot" means and I suspect that I'm not alone.

Well, if the argument is weak, its easy to pick it apart.

I mean, I've explained what happened, ie. the typo so let it go dude, jeez.

And, seriously, you have no idea what "I'm in with a shot" means? Seriously?

Again, thanks but I have plenty of knowledge and experience as to how to survive in a work place. I have a stellar background but I suppose I should know better then argue with some jackass troll.

Thanks anyone else who actually provides/will provide positive and useful feedback.

It's been over a week and nothing. I sent her a quick email expressing my disappointment with the whole process and how I hope they dont treat other candidates this way.

Got an immediate response. Funny how that works out. I respectfully declined an interview.

You've got that right attitude, it will pay dividends. You're "worth" it.

I didnt mean to come across as a douche or entitled in any way. I gather HR teams are busy but the fact that I needed to continually email to get a response isnt good form.

I declined the interview because I felt after that email, I didnt think I would get a fair shake and also its a matter of principle. I wanted the job but I'm not desperate for it.

The lack of communication from some HR teams is terrible.
