How to start a career in your 30's
From the years of 2001-2009 i was a stock trader. However, after the downturn in the market, i left the industry and moved away from New York. Wherby i took over the family restaurant where ive been ever since. I decided two years ago to go back to school and within a couplke of months i will be getting my degree in accounting. I am itching to return to the financial industry. IDeally i would like to get into a hege fund or PE firm however i know the chances are slim to none. That leaves me with IB. I eould lov to hear from some of you of any recommendations you might have as to how i can pursue my goal of getting myself a job at a IB even though i am already 33 yrs old.

Try looking for old coworkers
Try looking for old coworkers that got along with you and see if they're willing to help you.
Personal wealth is not how much you have in the bank or the worth of your portfolio. But, rather how you've used the wealth to make your life and those around you better.
I finished my undergrad at 29
I finished my undergrad at 29 (worked a number of years before I returned to undergrad) and could only land a few finance-related interviews. I decided to pursue my MFE to get another round of on-campus recruiting and had 6 1st round interviews during my first month into my grad program. I got a summer internship at one of the large physical commodities trading shops, finished my MFE, and returned full time with the same firm at 31 years old.
So if you don't get any looks after getting your accounting degree, think about getting a MSF or MBA to gain access to the recruiters. I found it was hard getting interviews being such an old undergrad student but companies seemed not to care once I was in a grad program. It's tough especially as an older undrgrad since there's really no reason why HR should take a risk with an untraditional student.
