JP Morgan freshman/sophomore internship
I haven't been able to dig much info up on JP Morgan's internships specifically for freshman and sophomores in college. Anyone know about the average qualifications of the kids they take? I'm currently a freshman at a target school, and expect to have a GPA of about 3.7-3.9 gauging the rest of my first semester and my current grades (finals aren't worth that much in my classes). This past Summer I worked at a commercial real estate brokerage firm, but that isn't very applicable to IBD/S&T. I do have knowledge of DCF's and other types of valuation methods, but nothing too extensive. I'll definitely apply, but am wondering whether I should expect to even be considered.
Thanks for the advice in advance.

I am interested as well. I wonder what they are looking for.
Anyone hear back yet?
Had a first round today, PM me
I haven't heard anything yet, can't wait to get something though.
I got a first round interview on Monday for S&T. No prior finance experience from a target
Does anyone have an idea about when the JP Morgan freshman/sophomore internship starts? (Originally Posted: 06/08/2013)
Just out of curiosity.
When I did it they started on June 2nd.
JPM Sophomore/Freshman Summer IBD Internship? (Originally Posted: 01/22/2011)
Did anyone apply to JPM's Sophomore/Freshman Summer IBD program? Heard back yet? I'm a sophomore who interned at UBS last summer, I got to a non-target top 25 school (3.9 GPA) and I have a connection at JPM. Or is there anyone who did this program last year? When did you hear back and how was the program?
I applied, the application deadline for my school was like last wednesday, I highly doubt that anyone would have heard back yet, considering they get A TON of apps for this program.
Ask your connection,
Alright thanks, my deadline was a little earlier but I suppose we probably won't be hearing for another few weeks.
I know people who have heard back already. Interviews on campus are next week here.
Rising freshmen seeks JP Morgan internship. Help! (Originally Posted: 07/29/2012)
I did some research. It seems JP Morgan is the only BB that actually gives freshmen a shot.
We all know BBs have had a dog year and they are probably going cut hiring and summer program next summer.
Will their still be air left for aspiring students?
I feel like we're DOOMED!!!
What do you think? Please give some advice.
Thanks :)
P.S. I'm planning to apply to their HK office for less competition and it's closer to home.
Wtf? Rising freshman?
My advice: get a life
That Freshman Sophomore program is a crapshoot. First of all, they should just call it the Sophomore program since you can probably count the number of freshmen in that on your hand.
A head start would certainly be nice.
I may just take a leap of faith and not have my hope up.
But seriously, does anyone know how many rising-soph do they take each year?
beggars can't be choosers
Almost every freshman I know or heard of at JPM were participants in the Smart Start program ( the firm funds your four-year undergrad and you are a summer analyst all three summers you spend in college). Others were in back office roles or, as always, very well-connected.
Long story short, if you aren't a diverse applicant, freshman programs that run the whole summer don't really exist.
Thanks! This is extremely informative.
I guess people do not get decent summer internships until their junior year.
Meanwhile, I'll do paper trading and other stuff.
There are actually a number of sophomore programs out there for non-diverse students. UBS has the President's Internship, BAML has a rotational one across IBD and S&T, Morgan Stanley has the IBD Sophomore Rotational program, JPM and GS each accept sophomore applicants ... freshman year is definitely scarcer than sophomore year in terms of internship opportunities.

I applied to JP Morgan's summer analyst position for investment banking. I am a freshmen from a target school and looking for info on what to expect if I am lucky enough to get an interview.
ha ha
Lol
Ecks Dee.
Summer after freshman year is for working a crappy minimum wage job and hanging out with your buddies. Not working 90-100 hrs a week in NY. Save that for your junior year because these are the last "free" summers you have for the rest of your life
Plus, chances you get it are 1 out of 1,000,000,000.
Good Luck.
Truth. You don't know what you got 'til it's gone...
I thought I would try and do something like this but I've decided against it in favor of travelling Europe or Australia this summer. I'll still have a story to tell and have fun along the way.
ari's awesome.
remember australia's seasons are the other way around to the northern hemisphere so not always fun.
does jp even hire freshmen interns? i thought they're more of a liability unless they're child prodigies or smth.
They do have an official Freshman/Sophomore Program but I've heard it is nearly impossible for Freshman.
Go do something worthwhile, so later in life you have something to talk about aside from what you read in the journal that day.
Relax kid.
JPM Freshmen & Sophomore Internship (Originally Posted: 02/06/2010)
Hi,
Did anyone hear back from the JPM freshmen and sophomore internship? I just got an interview for this week Are they going to ask technical questions? I'm a sophomore but I haven't taken any finance classes...
(My major is accounting) Any tips? thanks!
waht school do u go to?
Yeah, are you at a nontarget or target school? Ironically, I haven't heard of that many people at targets getting notified yet...
I'm from a non-target...I heard the recruiter said she's only going to take 3 people from our school...probably because it's non-target school.
aquamarinee, did you apply this year? I remember reading one of your posts somewhere...something about how you interviewed last year when you were a freshmen. how did it go/what kinds of questions did they ask you? is there round 2 interviews and such? thanks
wtf are you sure you're at a non target?
firm is recruiting recruiting on your campus and the recruitter said shes taking 3 from ur school dats pretty good. do u mind naming ur school?
baruch
i've definitely heard of baruch --a lot of baruch students intern at Wall St (i've ran into so many of them during my internships) i think you guys have a strong alumni network
Yea, Dennis Levine really made his mark.
does anyone have any tips/suggestions for the actual interview?
I anticipate it will be skewed towards behavioral / all fit. Know your story, why banking/trading, why JPM, your strengths/weaknesses, etc.
Since you are an accounting major, questions on linking the financial statements is fair game. There could also be brainteasers, and you can bet on being asked about the markets / economy / M&A trends.
I've written about common interview questions below. Feel free to reach out with any questions.
I was also invited to a Superday for this program, however mine is not for two more weeks... OP, would you mind saying if it is a first round or a final round Superday?
thanks breakingbankers
GutShot, there is a superday for this program? JPM is coming to our school to interview. I don't even know how the process is because it doesn't say specifically that this is round one and that there will be round 2, and final...
If you have OCR then that qualifies you as a target haha the Superday I'm going to is for nontargets specifically.
Hey GutShot when were you notified of an interview? Is this your first round? Also, I am also from a non target George Washington), so I'm wonderding where you go to school. If I have not been contacted yet do you think that I have no shot? Thanks
