JPM AM experienced hire process? - London

Hi WSO, long time lurker here, lots of useful advice on the boards and I finally made an account.

I am attempting to make the transition to Asset Management and have a first round interview with JPM to join as an analyst. I am coming from an unusual background (non-target, big 4 tax experience) and feel I have a lot to prove in the interview. I'm sitting the IMC in June and studying Mandarin Chinese.

Can anyone give me any advice on the process or tips? There will be three people interviewing me, which is a bit daunting but hopefully, if I win at least 2 of them over, they can pressure the other guy to give me a shot.

Went through JPM IBD recruiting, so may be able to help. What is IMC?

The recruitment for JPM AM is very different from JPM IBD, the AM bit does not even convert interns to analysts as far as I know, they require you to reapply and then you get a certain 'fast-track'.

IMC: it is a UK thing, you should know. Investment Management Certificate (IMC), some say it's like the smaller (much smaller) brother of the CFA in the UK.

Bingo. It's a nice introduction to finance and an overview of the basics of the CFA.

I'm fairly confident I can come across as a well-rounded individual, more concerned about if they will throw any curve-balls at me, and how technical the interview is likely to get. Obviously i'm only studying the IMC, so my knowledge is definitely quite basic. Before anyone mentions the language thing, yes I have found out how to say JPM in mandarin!
