There's a ton of vc firms in socal. Not nearly as much as norcal but how do you define good? Some people define it as funding a lot of startups. Some define good as funding companies with good exits(ie m&a, ipo etc).

As far as venture firms. One particularly good firm is GKM Ventures (http://www.gkmventures.com) founded by John Morris and a few of his colleagues that specializes in semiconductors and various technology startups.

The Tech Coast Angels is not neccessarily a venture fund. Its an angel community of investors(sec accredited) that funds startups collectively as a group. In essence, its a group of individuals with collective entrepreneurial and operating experience that seek to fund companies and also help young startups. The group has a phenomenal track record and hosts a variety of small and large events to prepare entrepreneurs for success in first round seed funding and provide advice along the way. One method includes a bi-annual pitch competition called "Pitch The Angels" (http://www.pitchtheangels.com) Its a competition where entrepreneurs can receive coaching advice prior to the event and develop a small 60 second elevator pitch to an audience of potential investors. The crowds generally reach well over 500 and there's a strong chance to arouse a potential investor both on the panel and in the crowd.

It is not about the title that you have, it is about how much money that you have.

Hi guys i m young in VC being in the region which is far behind established VC market. What r the securities and risk available to VC. the market is good out here but VCs are not much in more refined manner. How to attract good VC?

comment plz

Before I begin, I am assuming that you are in Hong Kong. Primarily because of the broken english. The simpliest way to attract VCs is going where VCs go. Industry conferences is virtually the best way to meet a VC without any contacts.

The best way to get your b-plan read is to get your analyst friend to vouch for it.

It is not about the title that you have, it is about how much money that you have.

I know the VC space pretty well given that I am in tech corpdev and we basically do most of our deals with VC-backed firms...based on my observations / discussions with various top VC partners I would say that the only firms in LA that are really worth checking out (mainly because they have good partners, decent deals, etc.) are:
