My first rounder with them this year was extremely technical. I was asked to essentially walk through every step of a bottom up valuation of a company and was peppered with questions about the DCF. Asked me which valuation method I would use, why, and what its potential shortcomings might be. They really got into how I see the company in the future - how would I forecast its addressable market in a foreign country.. How they might finance a project to expand oversees.. Why the margins would be different in Europe versus the US.. I loved the format - it really allows you to demonstrate creativity and ability to see past the generic answers on interview guides. I have a superday coming up in the next couple of weeks, so I can only imagine this will be equally technical.

 

normally first round is mostly fit. Walk me through your resume, why IB, why us, and potentially some basic tech questions (Valuation techniques, walk me through a DCF). Usually the more intense tech is reserved for 2nd round or Superdays.

You may get asked a brain teaser. I've been asked things like "how many gas stations do you think there are in the US" and "how much would you pay to purchase an NYC newsstand."
