Lazard Final Round Interviews

Hi everyone. I have a final round of SA interviews coming up for Lazard's NY office. Was wondering if anyone could give me any insight into the level of tech questions to expect. My first round only had a few basic technicals, but I'm prepared for paper LBO's, advanced valuations, etc. Any insight on what tech questions or fit questions to expect would be great. Also, if anyone has an idea of how the format of their super days are and how long it takes to hear back, that'd be great. Thanks.

I hate you...

They wouldn't have wasted their time on you if they didn't think you had something useful to them... clearly you're bright and you work hard if you're at a target, were able to make the GPA cut, and are in a quantitative field (engineering) so those are all +'s.

You don't know anything in finance and they know that so no surprises, I'd work more on the fit or behavioral elements that go into an interview... forget about 'impressing' anyone FT b/c a few months into the job they're already way ahead of an undergraduate in finance-related knowledge. That being said, I'd advise you to work hard on crafting your best 'why banking story' and showing interest in IBD related shit. You want to be able to counter the potentially perceived belief that you thought to yourself 'holyshit these guys pay a lot, fuck engineering', even though that's fine and its not like people don't want to get paid well... just try and steer away from that and counter those attitudes. I'm not saying that's what they will be thinking, but be prepared as that's probably the biggest thing that might sink you assuming you interview fairly well etc.

Goodluck ... I am certainly jealous, let us know how it goes.

'Before you enter... be willing to pay the price'

Maybe they're planning on putting you in a new renewable energy finance team and need at least one lackey who actually knows something about the science behind it. Back in 2008 everyone was talking about building up capital markets teams for an industry that would become huge. Maybe the interest is back again.

You've got a 3.7 at Columbia, which means you're at least doing something right.

And you're a girl hahaha

Read the Vault guide, but past that point it should be smooth sailing.

Thanks for the input guys! I will definitely read the Vault guide back-to-back as well as refresh myself on the renewable energies and mining commodities. I also e-mailed the guy who did my on-campus interview for feeback and he kindly provided his cell number.

I went to the career center and they said they might put you in a group to see how you function to solve a problem. I guess this intimidates me the most since unless they propose an energy or resource-related case to us, I won't be able to contribute much to the discussion.

Just Google and check out dealbook...im not that familiar with Lazard RE IB group

Just be familiar with whats going on with cap rates and market rents, national real estate investor, shopping centers today, etc. all offer free publications with up to date industry information. RE is nothing more than understanding cash flows Feel free to PM me with any specific questions.

Hi, Could you post interview questions that were group (real estate)-specific? I am now preparing to interviews with real-estate group at one of BB banks and would very much appreciate it!

I am interviewing for the Brazilian Lazard Group. Losing hopes here - it has been two weeks since the last contact. Although I called them last week and they said I had passed for the next round, I haven't received any call nor email with a confirmation/scheduling a new interview since then. I think I am in a "hold" position - If they interview everybody else and don't find someone fit, they will call me.

:/

Hey Bud, I go to berkeley as well (Haas). I think they filled it with a DSP kid BUT, I saw one of the DSP analyst (tech) was telling a DSP kid all the answers. PM me.
