Macabacus Self-Study Help Guide

Hello everyone,

After some searches on how to quickly learn to model, I found that macabacus is a great website to start off. While the website is very structured and systematic, I found that it is quite difficult for someone who is a rookie in this topic and have several questions on the data and computations.

Instead of starting another thread about BB prestige, hours, $$$ - which are important aspects of ibanking, I really wanted to use this community to learn more about valuation and modeling. I would greatly appreciate your input.

For people who don't know about Macabacus, please check http://macabacus.com/merger-model/company-info

I am going through the Merger Model and will be asking questions in reference to Step numbers.

Thanks a bunch and please bear with me if I ask some obvious & stupid questions.

So for my first set of questions:

Step 1: Company Information - Where did they get the data for Face Value, Conversion Price, and Interest Rate? Row 18-20. - Also, what do they mean by labeling Convert 1 and Convert 2? - Are they suppose to be referring to two different conversion expiration dates?

Thanks,

For your first question, that info can be find in company filings. Go through the 10K's notes. Actually, open up the filings, hit CTRL+F, and search for the word "Conversion Price" -- it will show you exactly where they got it from.
