Making birth date private?

Patrick,

Is there any way you can make it so the birthdate on our profile is private? I'm cool with giving y'all my birthday if y'all want it for demographic purposes, but I'd rather not have it be public because then it's easier to ID people behind their name.

You could always just put your birth year, that should be enough for demo. Or change the date by a month + some days

It won't let me just enter a year, I'd be fine with that. Changing the date seems to take the point out of asking for a specific date.

I see what you're saying. The thing is, if they're looking at demos the exact birth date doesn't matter. Changing your bday by a month and a day isn't going to make a big difference. Most likely the reason it's specific is that's how it was built into the Drupal system.
