Banking in Washington DC?
Lots of talk about NYC vs Chicago / NYC vs LCOL Cities on this site, but feels like there's hardly anything about DC.
Situation: I've recently decided to try and make a move to Washington DC to be closer to friends and family I have in the area, but I've been having some trouble finding jobs that fit what I currently do / what I'd like to do in the city. It looks like there are some few and far between, and those that I do find tend to specialize specifically in Aerospace, Defense, and GovCon (no surprise there I guess).
So I'm curious whether anyone has had any luck nailing down an IB / LevFin / PE role in the DC area? Otherwise whether anyone may be aware of shops that operate in a more broad industry scope beyond ADG?
Thanks!
From what I saw growing up in NoVa there’s barely any banking or investing in the actual city aside from Carlyle. All the banks were around Tysons or Pentagon City.
The first publicly-traded finance company to open an office in DC only did so in 2021. There's a natural resources team at Rothschild in DC, so there is more than just AD&G.
