Military Academy Cadet: Worth Mentioning?
Hey fellow monkeys,
As a sophomore interested in IB, I'm finally able to apply to some spring and summer internships in my field of interest. And beyond brushing up on technicals, following the markets, etc., I have struggled with selling my story when it comes time to interview.
For context: I attended both a public and military boarding academy in Pennsylvania in high school. I wasn't "sent," in any sense of the word, but I was interested in attending the Naval Academy or West Point in college, and figured it would be a logical step in the right direction. I ultimately chose to attend a semi-target private university in lieu of an appointment to the USNA and set my sights on the financial services industry.
Anyways, I was wondering if I should even mention my military high school experience when applying for internships. I derive virtually all of my leadership and character traits from that experience, but I'm worried that the connotation of military schools might be an instant ding. How would you guys approach this?
Thanks!

+1. What if your interviewer actually served? You'll sound like a fuck ass. Articulate your story in other ways.
