Right...

I believe everyone came to the general consensus that bonuses would go down in the short term. Most people were debating whether they would be the same in the long term.

Exactly. In the short term they will definitely go down because of the economy.

No one ever provided a good reason why they will systematically drop (becoming a bank holding company does not count at all--people at JPM, Citi, etc. always got the same comp as those at independent banks).
