MSc Management in the UK for strategy. LBS, Warwick, Imperial, Bath?
Hi there, it's really nice to be here! I've been reading the forums quite a lot lately, and decided to join to ask you this specific question. I'm about to start an MSc in Management, hoping to work at a top calibre strategy consulting firm after graduation. I am probably going to either Warwick Business School or LBS - or probably Imperial or Bath.
The question is actually, would my chances to land a good job be seriously different as a graduate of any of those schools compared to the rest? I understand that Warwick is definitely a UK target school and that LBS is higher but has its graduate program running for less than two years so comparisons can't be safe, but would you suggest that the extra money needed for LBS would be well spent? The total difference (fees, everyday life, housing etc) must amount to more than £10k easily.
So, to cut it short:
- Would you suggest that LBS is that much better (in terms of employability at top employers, MBB or top niche firms) than WBS or Imperial?
- Between Imperial and WBS will there be a big difference? As far as I know, both are target schools, but Warwick's business school is much better than Imperial's in terms of quality or studies.
I know that LBS is probably much better regarded, but i'm really lost as to what I should do. Any opinion would be appreciated - thanks a lot! :)
Menelaos
LBS hands down. Better OCR, more alumni, more opportunities etc.
£10k would be well spent if you come out with your dream job.
Thanks a lot. :) And if I can't afford it, what would the best choice among the rest be? Any significant difference between Imperial and Warwick?
If it was me, I would go to Imperial. You'd be in London and if you play your cards right, I am sure you can leverage something.
Warwick has a really good business school but a friend of mine goes there right now and they are having some upheaval. Safer bet would be Imperial purely based on the fact that they place well and you're in London.
And when I say upheaval, I mean they're having issues with staff and them actually giving a shit about their students.
Thanks a lot! :) More opinions would be really useful :)
So, guys, back with an update here. I actually have offers from LBS, Warwick and Imperial after all, so now is the time for the decision. I've pretty much decided i will NOT got to Imperial since it combines the high costs of London with a lower quality than LBS. So my decision will be between LBS and Warwick Business School.
Any more opinions regarding this choice would be EXTREMELY appreciated. Truth is, I probably prefer Warwick in terms of life quality (better life balance, I believe, attitude a bit more relaxed etc), but LBS is just better. So my question is mainly:
if I choose Warwick over LBS will it have a serious impact on my career prospects?
Thanks a lot! :)
Take a look at LBS's career placement. Its fantastic.
LBS by a long shot. You dont want to regret by going to warwick just for a better life balance for 1 year.

those few k is nothing in the long term
what about LSE msc management? I actually don't know much about it but it seems like an option to consider
actually come to think of it I know a couple germans who did the lse msc management and worked at mckinsey and an american who did it and worked at monitor
Well, not anymore. I didn't apply there so now it's obviously too late :)
