MSF - Predicament
I've found myself in a predicament, and im hoping for some suggestions from you guys. Any advice is welcome.
Ive just graduated from a non target school with a major in finance and economics. I did well in school (3.75 GPA), had one internship in fixed income/credit research at a F500 insurance company, and made a huge push for IB FT positions beginning last summer. Unfortunately, despite my networking efforts and contacts at banks through my internship, etc, I wasn't able to land any positions and am now basically at a crossroads. I absolutely want to get into banking, and ive recently been weighing the option of doing an MSF at a top school and transitioning into an analyst role after that. The only problem is Ive obviously missed all the application deadlines for Fall 2015 year, so this route would require me to essentially take a year off and take the GMAT/apply for programs for Fall 2016. In the meantime I may take level 1 of the CFA just to bolster my resume further. I wanted to get people's thoughts on this. Is this a viable route for me? I realize its quite a financial commitment, but I feel like I could do well on the GMAT and get into a good program that could put me in a good place come eventual recruitment. I'd be networking hard throughout the year still, but is this year off a bad idea/would it reflect poorly on me later?
Any other ideas or comments welcome, thanks a lot.
