I would never have guessed that email would've paid off. You mention everything why they shouldn't hire you and then you call your school mediocre.

Because when you're in a room full of smart people, smart suddenly doesn't matter—interesting is what matters.

Big congrats to you, of course - glad it paid off. But these are already starting to get cliche. They're bound to lose their allure soon.

I was pretty negative about my school because it is pretty negative.... haha it's not a good school at all. I wanted to be honest and say, that even though my school sucks, I don't. I mentioned my strengths and that I would be a good hire. Unfortunately, I do feel that these things will evenutally lose their allure. Until then, I'm glad mine worked. Moving to NYC, with this company, from my school, is huge.

Congrats man, I'm happy for you too. I've always said that in an interview setting, I'd much rather someone just tell it to me straight, rather than weaving together some "story" about their background.

And thank you for your congrats. I try to be as honest as I can. I'm real bright and hardworking. But I don't go to Harvard.

Now, any advice for going to work with a bunch of ivy leaguers? I'll be working with some pretty impressive people. Any advice on preperation?

Yeah, leave your past behind. From this point on focus on kicking ass at your job and stop worrying about people's backgrounds. It's basically a fresh start.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

Nobody cares where you went to college when you start on the job. Just perform better and you will be rewarded.

I go to the same school as you. Had a IB boutique SA offer and an F100 SA offer. Went with F100. Congrats.

Good job! So my question is this:

Is this an acceptable template for Non-Target students to be using as well :

Not saying that it is the rule, but for what its worth it seems to be a tactic that worked in the above scenario and for OP.

Either way, congrats OP!

See... this is exactly what I feared. Everyone get ready to start getting a bunch of "ballsy" emails from these templates.
