Next Career Step, Advice Needed

Hey everyone, I wanted to ask you all what position I should look for next to gain the best experience.

Background:
Non-target 3.0
Currently an acquisitions analyst for a small value add multifamily REPE firm in SF. I have been involved in over $150MM of transactions which include refi's, dispositions, and acquisitions during my time here (almost 1 year) and would love to stay but there is no room at this time. My director and MD just let me know yesterday about my future with the firm. With that being said I will still be here until I find a new position and both my director and MD are very willing to help me find something (recommendation letters, reaching out to other shops/people in the industry, whatever they can do to help).

I am not very worried about finding another job, but I want to make sure it is the right experience. I enjoy the work in REPE and would like to stay on the investor side of the business or possibly get into development.

I know you all will probably need more info, so ask away and thanks in advance for the help!

Your GPA and school no longer matter. You have experience (and I assume connections). Don't put that crutch on yourself. Fuck it, you know? Now's your time to go big if you want.

If I were you, I would reach out to some big swinging dick firms first and test your luck. Since you're still employed, you might as well swing for the fences. Worst thing that happens is you foul a few off and settle for a double, if you'll excuse the baseball metaphor. Related CA, Hines, Boston Properties, Jay Paul, Tishman, etc. are all big development players in SF and are working on projects that I could only dream of in my market if you want to go that route. PM me for some contact info/email addresses if you have a hard time finding them yourself.

Just to reiterate what @CRE stated- although your current role is somewhat unstable, you know you have a steady paycheck for the near term. Unfortunately I've only had one job, so my knowledge in this area is limited. That said, I have seen peers (fellow non-targeters) leverage even six months experience to land a great job they would never have been considered for out of school.

Also, I do know some BB RE groups that are light and hiring in southern California.

This kind of thing happens. I hope your employer cuts down on your work load during your period while you are still employed since looking for new work is really time consuming. Still being employed is good for your job search and the market is still good for now. Good luck
