Hey guys, looking for a restaurant rec so I can purchase a gift certificate for a friend and his wife. I never make it that far south in the Bay so I don't know what's good. Am looking to spend $100-200 total at a nice place that would make a good date night for the two of them. No particular cuisine in mind but nothing too specialized. Thanks.

I'm from the area. Here are some I know of:
Tamarine - Vietnamese fusion.
Jin Sho - I've heard it's the best for Japanese sushi
Nami Nami - Japanese fusion (in Mountain View)
For a good steakhouse, there's Sundance Steakhouse and Fleming's (Fleming's is more upscale/expensive, but I like Sundance because it's better value for the money)
I don't often go into Menlo Park, though.
I'm not sure if any of these break $100-200 for a dinner for two.
There are lots of restaurants in the area.
Try Yelp?

As everyone has said, high end Japanese is your best bet.
There was a good omakase-type restaurant on Sand Hill, but it closed. Haven't tried Jin Sho.
Fleming's is fine. Not a great steakhouse, but pretty good.
I once went to a French restaurant in PA (I think it was Baume). It was pretty good, but the prices were high for the quality.
There is some good Indian, although you probably will only get to 50 per head with it. Amber India on El camino is very good.
Thanks for all the recs. I
Thanks for all the recs. I went with Sundance, which turned out to be his favorite restaurant in Palo Alto, so I lucked out with that.
