Nice restaurant in Palo Alto / Menlo Park area?

Hey guys, looking for a restaurant rec so I can purchase a gift certificate for a friend and his wife. I never make it that far south in the Bay so I don't know what's good. Am looking to spend $100-200 total at a nice place that would make a good date night for the two of them. No particular cuisine in mind but nothing too specialized. Thanks.

I'm from the area. Here are some I know of:

Tamarine - Vietnamese fusion. Jin Sho - I've heard it's the best for Japanese sushi Nami Nami - Japanese fusion (in Mountain View)

For a good steakhouse, there's Sundance Steakhouse and Fleming's (Fleming's is more upscale/expensive, but I like Sundance because it's better value for the money)

I don't often go into Menlo Park, though. I'm not sure if any of these break $100-200 for a dinner for two. There are lots of restaurants in the area. Try Yelp?

favorite of recent here in palo alto is cuban place called la bodeguita del medio on california ave... $100 will buy them a great night. live music at the bar, laid back dining area, cigar patio out back... it's awesome. tell them to split the ajiaco after a couple mojitos.

As everyone has said, high end Japanese is your best bet.

There was a good omakase-type restaurant on Sand Hill, but it closed. Haven't tried Jin Sho.

Fleming's is fine. Not a great steakhouse, but pretty good.

I once went to a French restaurant in PA (I think it was Baume). It was pretty good, but the prices were high for the quality.

There is some good Indian, although you probably will only get to 50 per head with it. Amber India on El camino is very good.
