Not getting any bites! Need help

Hey guys, I'm having trouble getting a job and I really need help on what to do next.

Quick break down:

Im 26, graduated with a degree in Economics from a total non target. I have about 2.5 years experience in the finance industry.

I'm currently working as a financial advisor for about a year at a BB, and before that I was an M&A analyst intern with a very small boutique shop for 1.5 years doing DCF's lbo models the whole rig a morle basically.

Basically I'm trying to get into a analyst or trader position. I have interest in both but leaning toward the analyst side. I'm specifically interested in fixed income analysis.

I've sent out 300-400 resumes online to every possible analyst postion I thought would be aligned to my experience.

I'm just not getting any bites and I dont know what to do. My stint as a Financial advisor is going to come to an end in a few months and I'm going to be out of a job and need direction. Its a sales job and I'm looking for something more intellectual and research focused.

I've tried to reach out to my network and I'm not having any luck with it either.

I'm studying for my CFA part 1, taking the test in December but thats not really a good tool to use to break into the industry.

I don't have delusions of becoming a IB analyst or PE/HF because of my backgroud and my experience.

Maybe I need to go get a masters, but I really don't have the 3-4 years of experience that a top 10 school requires.

What do I do?

Yeah I know MFE programs dont require much work expereince but i was just hoping to get a position at any firm as an analyst and build up my resume some more before I go back to school.

Is there anything else I could do other than blasting resumes and begging my network for jobs?

  1. Master of Finance is different than MFE.
  2. There is nothing else you can do other than network and apply.
  3. Why not post your resume for review? Maybe that's the issue.
I'll do what I can to help ya'll. But, the game's out there, and it's play or get played.
