Oppenheimer & Co:first round interview insights and details

I've got an interview coming up with Oppenheimer & Co. for an IB analyst position, and I was wondering if anyone has anything to say about the culture of the bank after the CIBC acquisition. Also, is the first round of interviews more fit or technical? Are they hiring in the NYC office or looking to take more analysts for their satellite offices? Thanks in advance.

I worked there over the summer in the Private Client Division in NYC so can't be much help about IBD advice. From what I observed, culture is still kind of broken up after the merger but everyone is slowly starting to mesh. Lot of layoffs on both the OPY and CIBC side, heard they won't be hiring many so congrats on securing an interview. Good luck.

Good people at that firm, but the people in HR who handle undergrad recruiting are definitely pretty flakey. Don't feel awkward about following up with them if they don't respond to any of your initial emails (regarding whatever), they're prone to receiving them and not responding.

"Yes. Money has been a little bit tight lately, but at the end of my life, when I'm sitting on my yacht, am I gonna be thinking about how much money I have? No. I'm gonna be thinking about how many friends I have and my children and my comedy albums."
