Hey, I'm from Russia, but I go to school in US. I can't speak much of my experience, but I would love to learn more about your experience in Russian PE.
Sure, I work in a mid market PE firm that owns and operates FMCG companies across the CIS space. Definitely ups and downs to working in Russia, but for the most part I enjoy it
How is the comp comparing to US PE shops? Do you think you had an edge being russian speaking? Would american experience/education be valued by russian firms if you were russian speaking?

Hey guys, are here any private equity or even investment banking professionals that work in russia who could explain how the game works over there? I am particularly interested in: -how does the recruitment work over there? -what qualities are important? -whats the biggest difference between Eastern and Western PE? -is it really that corrupt over there?

Thats right ricky. According to a bloomberg article, there is just 1,4bn$ of western PE money in russia, which is almost nothing compared to what is invested in china or brazil. Thats why i wanna go for russian pe funds.

Russian people are very reserved and typically view a situation as 'This person is trying to fcuk me over.' They then proceed to screw the person even more and move on. Of course PE firms are leaving as they realize they can't sell the dream to private enterprises in Russia. Just my two cents.
