PUA??

Is anyone here into the whole pick-up scene? I've always been OK with women (more or less), and thought the whole PUA thing was a joke without really knowing what it was. Recently a buddy insisted that I read Mystery Method, so I did. To be quite honest, I'm actually pretty impressed. I like to think of myself as an analytical guy, and I find the whole idea of an analytical framework to the approach to be a pretty cool idea. At the risk of coming off as a bit toolish, I'm thinking of rounding up some buddies and giving it a shot.

I'd be interested to know the opinions of some any guys on WSO who have ACTUALLY TRIED THE STUFF for a long enough time to form a valid opinon. I'm honestly just looking to enhance my nightlife beyond the regular drunkfests I have with my buddies. Getting good at something like this seems like it would be fun, challenging, not to mention useful. Any opinions? Thoughts on good resources?

By the way, if you think you're one of those really cool types that don't need this shit, then good for you, I don't care. Again, I'm looking for your opinion if you've actually tried the stuff. Oh, and I'm also fully aware of Leverage Sellout's "Banker Method"... pretty funny but don't bother posting it.

That, and to shorten the read: it's about confidence and numbers. If you have no confidence, you won't approach women, if you don't approach a lot of women, you won't get any numbers from women that you want.

The stuff works. Enjoy the ride.

I've always liked David DeAngelo's stuff (not his real name btw):

Also read Neil Strauss's the Game (I recommend reading it after reading the manual-type stuff, since it will knit everything together nicely).

Btw guys, if any of you have sisters, this is the best resource for them (I've read it, it's ridiculous, it's like chick game hahaha):

It's a ton of work, btw. You really have to push yourself. There are times it's awesome and times it sucks.

I definitely recommend reading The Game. An easy and quick read plus you'll learn a few things. It's been a few years since I last read it but I always remember the 3 second rule and never buying drinks for a girl.

Edit:

it's about confidence and numbers.
Perfectly said. Too many people feel rejection and therefore lack confidence. If a girl shoots you down, don't take it personal and move on. This is the biggest hurdle, but once you accomplish this you'll be set.

I'm probably going to get monkey crap thrown at me, but it seems like a scheme to get money from desperate men who have money. I tried the stuff when I was younger, but it was just felt weird doing that stuff. Here's an interesting blogs about it http://lifestylejourney.blogspot.com/2010/02/pua-scam.html and http://www.aaronsleazy.com/cms/aaron-sleazy-debunking-seduction-communi…(of course he's probably pushing his own pua material)

It seems like the male version of the diet industry for women: All the good advice is out there(work out, go out and play the odds), it's hard work and most people want instant gratification for that so they pay a significant amount instead of actually working for it.

Either way look at both sides and go from there.

i was looking for honest opinions of people who have actually tried PUA, and that's what you gave me. if anything i'd give you a SB if i had any to give.

I've got the game on pdf if you want it. Neil Strauss is fucking awesome. He was mentioned in the last two books I read (The Most Human Human and 4 Hour Body). The Game is so much more than about picking up girls, it is all about learning to be a confident person in any social situation.

Honestly, I think the key is having a wingman, or even better, someone to teach you the ropes in the field. Trying to use stuff from the book is tough to do solo.

looking for that pick-me-up to power through an all-nighter?
