Rejected but then offering to work for free?
Has anyone been rejected from a mm type of bank who then offered to work for free for a SA position? How did it go for you guys?

tha bank offered you an unpaid position or you offered to work for free? it's unclear.
I think he means he got rejected and is considering working offering to work for free.
Its worth a shot. I think VC_Monkey went that route.
its worth a try ,although i think they may have other candidates in line regardless of pay.
I don't think $ matters here. Don't even bother...They will prob not even respond back to you.
Offer to sleep with them too.
I don't think it could hurt. What are they going to say, no? They've already done that once, it can't get any worse.
Soph rejected by boutique for SA spot - offer to work unpaid? (Originally Posted: 03/16/2012)
I don't think this is a good idea but I have exhausted a lot of options already.
So I applied to this boutique that takes 2 Summer Analysts ever year. These positions are paid. One of the employees followed up with me today thanking me for applying but in rejection.
Should I contact them next week and try to sell them on having me there unpaid over the summer?
Would it hurt my chances for next year?
Doesn't sound like a solid idea. Don't want to come off as desperate implying that your skills are unworthy of compensation. Try moving onto other boutiques, but definitely keep in touch - maybe it will be a possibility for a fall semester internship. Being aggressive is appropriate - when the time is right. Reach out to alumni, utilizing your career center, professors, and linkedin. Try to get in touch with family and family friends to see if they can help you out.
you should also check out www.connectcubed! it's our new platform - you play finance games and top performers are recruited for summer internships by our hedge fund and ibank clients. it's free and takes 30 seconds to sign up. if you need an internship, there's nothing to lose!
