Reuters sponsoring record setting race across the south pole
So we had some of our Reuters reps come into the office yesterday discussing the same old stuff. However, at the end of our conversation one of the sales reps mentioned a competition in which one lucky reuters customer could win a seat on some arctic amphibious assault vehicle that was going to set the Guinness record for amount of time crossing the south pole. http://thomsonreuters.com/products_services/finan…
My jaw literally dropped to the floor when I heard they were sponsoring this as part of their marketing scheme for a their new platform. This expedition probably costs anywhere from $10-20 million to host.
When I was thinking about the possibility of winning, a certain dilemma came to mind. Would you want to be a part of the expedition and resulting record holder or would you want to auction your seat off on something like Ebay? Being a 1st year analyst, I would strongly consider auctioning to some former pit-trading adrenaline junkie. On the other hand, how cool of an experience would it be?
