Stanford Sloan Masters Program instead of a Top MBA?

I'm considering applying to Stanford's Sloan Masters programme as an alternative to my target MBA programmes (Harvard, Wharton, Columbia)

Stanford's programme:
http://www.gsb.stanford.edu/sloan/

My considerations & why I want an MBA/masters:
1 - BRAND: A masters from a brand name school could be useful for my plans and as career insurance.
2 - Launching my own fund/business: I will probably try to do this immediately after my masters (working on this now).

If I'm going to spend 2 years on an M7 MBA other than my targets, I'll probably want to combine it with another masters. Not excited about studying "business" exclusively for two years. Especially at my level.

QUESTIONS:
Any thoughts? Alternatives? Is the Stanford masters appropriate should I decide not to launch my fund and need to consider recent MBA type roles?

Hi Relinquis,

Thanks for posting. Regarding what you are looking for in a program, all of the programs you have listed (Stanford, Harvard, Columbia, etc.) have world-class reputations. They also all provide ample opportunities to a number of industries.

Regarding launching your own fund/business, I recommend really focusing on what you are looking for in a program. MBAs focus on developing future leaders, and they also provide an environment that is more conducive to networking. You will meet remarkable people in a Master's program as well, however I would give the advantage to MBA programs.

Lastly, now more than ever MBA programs provide opportunities to study in other programs at the schools (law, public policy, and even medicine).
