Hey guys,
I have a Stifel ER super-day soon and was wondering about the following:
-How is the super-day? Will I be asked to create valuation models? Was it mostly fit or technical? -Exit opps to HFs?

That's actually a wonderful commute. You'd be going opposite the traffic each direction, it'll be a breeze. I use to go the other way with everybody else, and let me tell you, that was pretty rough.

Don't know anything about the super day, but I think that you have a chance at being placed at KBW. I think they run from the same recruitment process. KBW is very well regarded in financials, good exits.
That's surely a possibility. I've been advised to create an equity research report to accompany my application...
How did the interview go ? Anyone know the comp ?
I know a guy who got a job there. He was from Colorado State University and was hired out of undergrad w/virtually no experience. First year comp was 7.5k relocation, 55K base, 5-10 bonus. Works in Baltimore. I'll shoot an e-mail about the interview process if anyone request it. Said 2nd year is 70K, 3rd is 100K.

Sure. Again it was my friend, but he told me a lot. Got the interview through a guy that was an Alumni. Then did a phone interview with basic ER questions, like walk through a I/S B/S C/F etc., why do you want to do ER. One question at the time, last year, was: why should I give you this job when there are so many applicants with more qualifications One other question: if you have cash on the B/S of $500 what does it show on the c/f. That's all I remember he said about the phone interview.
Then was called for a 'model test' where he was sent an empty model and a 10Q and ask to fill out the model and build a valuation method of his choice. Also had to write a report covering some specific things (company overview, etc). He could use any public source, not just the 10Q. After that, he was flown to Baltimore and interviewed with the ER head, and apparently like 13 other ER people. Finally, the person called him and said they liked him and had to figure out what they were going to pay.
I might have answers to other questions if you have something specific.
I do not know what a beverage comp is?
BTW the model test was sent at 5am sat and do by 5pm sat, Including the write up.
And he got the job because he rocked the valuation tab on the model test with an extensive valuation. I would start building a simple, but good universal model now, or get a hold of one.
And by extensive i mean he did some research on the sector, like how they use certain metrics, and included them.
Thanks for the info sk. I'm interviewing for an experienced position. Did he send in a DCF ?
Yep did a DCF. His position, and the one I got, were for 2-3 years experience. Networking sometimes gets you in quicker. Also, for exit ops, I know another older guy (29 maybe?) that worked at Stifel out of school. Got his CFA and worked there up to his first senior gig, and now works at Goldman. Last I heard he got a 50k signing, 150k base and idk about bonus. He is a senior analyst at the VP level, but did know the MD pretty well.
