Summer Internship in Beijing
I'm trying to get a summer internship at a boutique IB in Beijing. There are quite a few of these shops and I have a list drawn up already. The problem is that I don't know whether to email/call the MD straight up to ask for a job, or to ask him out for a coffee or an informational interview, and then ask him if he has any openings in person.
What do you guys think?
Try to set up and informational interview first. And after that expect to talk about potential internship.
You don't normally cold-call girls to ask for sex directly. Same thing. Play smoothly unless you really have something amazing to put on the table (you don't need to cold-call for an internship if that's the case then)
