Media and Telecom Groups
Hey all. There have been threads on this, but most are quite old. Any thoughts on the top banks for Media & Telecom?

GS/MS are the top BBs in TMT
I should have specified more. I am mostly curious about the Media & Telecom verticals, not necessarily Tech.
.
That's bullshit. Baird leads the pack.
Depends on the region (US vs EMEA vs Asia) and also whether it is TMT for M&A, ECM or DCM, but in general GS/MS/JPM are all the top players in TMT
TMT Groups Europe (Originally Posted: 04/29/2007)
What TMT group is best in Europe? And are there league tables published specifically for TMT by geography (if so, where)?
US. Mostly curious about the Media & Telecom verticals, not as much about tech.
I think it would be better if you consider who has clients which appeal to you more so then others.
I think for Technology , Media & Telecom (TMT)...the following three are the clear leaders in Europe :
Goldman Sachs Morgan Stanley Credit Suisse
GS, LionTree, Moelis

Who has the best Tech Group..
JPM, BarCap, or BAML?
Seems like an odd bunch for tech, all roughly 2nd-tier. My stab at ranking these:
JPM BarCap BAML
Your question about NY Tech groups is like asking who the best team in the minor leagues is - it's a valid question, there's probably a concrete answer, but nobody cares. I'll give you the same advice someone once gave me - if you're serious about pursuing tech, you have to go the west coast.
BarCap media + telecom is very good, tech not so good. JPM and BAML are equivalent, both pretty solid, although a step down from GS and MS. But if you really want to do tech banking, go to SF.
TMT - Visited a desk at a BB (Originally Posted: 12/10/2010)
Ive visited a TMT desk at a BB, what I find really interesting is that they deal with the companies Ive been following and almost worked at with my engineering background. Its almost a natural fit, since ive been in technology all my life high-tech products just make sense and I have pretty good judgment on when a company releases a POS or a decent product that will bring quality revenue through the door.
But whats the future like for this (and similar) equities desks? It raises the age old question of equities vs FI. The TMT guys are there if someone is trying to make a huge trade, but im just wondering if the need for their services are on the permanent decline. Any thoughts?
Interested in a response for this too especially since people crying out about the second coming of the Internet Bubble.
