ubs online application

I applied to UBS HK for FT in FICC S&T a few weeks ago, and this year they will only start reviewing FT applications at the end of this week. I have talked to someone who works there who said that although there isn't a full hiring freeze, hiring will be less than in previous years and things certainly aren't looking good for S&T, especially in FICC.

My question is, would it be an auto-ding if I email HR to try to change my application to another department, or would this be impossible to do? does HR have any impact on your candidacy at all?
