VC Admin vs Exec Search Research role for b-school?

I am confronted with two job options:

Option 1: Executive Assistant at one of the top VC firms on Sand Hill Rd.

Option 2: Research Associate at one of the top executive search firms (think Big 5).

I want to go to a top b-school (either Haas or GSB) in 3 years. Beyond that I am interested in MC or a GM track in Tech, Cleantech, etc.

My question is in 2 parts: (A) Which job option will most help me get into a top b-school? and (B), which job option will most help me land an MBB or Goopplebook-type job post-graduation?

Obviously you'll have to assume all other factors equal, and that I am in general, for the sake of discussion, an otherwise viable candidate.

Thanks!

gamenumbersUm, so you are actually debating working for a top VC in Menlo Park vs. working for a headhunter?

VC no doubt. Not even close.

Even as a secretary? No offence OP but IMHO it seems to me it's gonna be hard to land an M7 MBA or MBB when your offers are a headhunter and Bay Area EA.

Best of luck and kudos for dreaming big.

If I were you, I'd probably take the EA job to be able to network and have a chance at lateraling into an analyst role after somehow proving yourself.

I don't understand what a "research associate" does at a headhunting firm, but I somehow doubt you'll be able to spin that into a solid business school story. At least there is a tiny chance you could get some good stories out of the EA job for your application.
