what is the general consensus abt the times supplement world rankings?
Stanford, Brown, Dartmouth, LSE, Manchester below University of Hong Kong..such accreditations just seem to hurt good institutions - What gauge does a student from the Dominican Republic then use to evaluate universities if accredited rankings miss the mark - the compilers are potentially destroying careers here!

The rankings are rubbish, especially with regards to LSE and Stanford.
The London School of Economics and Stanford are two premier institutions in the world..imagine ranking them 19 and 59; Dartmouth & Brown - Ivy schools ranked like they were established yesterday...madness!!
what the hell is times supplement? In the US we look at US News rankings.
Absolutely nobody is going to put Manchester of UHK above the other four. And most people will put Stanford on top.
If this changes it takes centuries. Brown used to be the 'worst' ivy league school. Now it's tied for the 'worst' or the second 'worst' depending on who you ask. This small change took hundreds of years.
The Times higher education supplement is just another rankings, take it like all the others with a grain of salt.
There are a TON of Australian universities in the THES ranking though, makes you wonder how Sydney, Melbourne, ANU, etc. are all top bucket schools with such a feebly small population. Good job Australia!
that ranking is compiled in UK and therefore UK centric. Australian universities? Never heard of them. What are those?
I think the rankings adjust for population and the amount of funding the university receives. Which is a stupid thing.
Who cares if the country has a good university for its population (e.g. Australia)? The Jiaotong Rankings are much better. No Australian university deserves to be in top 50.
I don't think they adjust for population and funding. it's not in the stated criteria. and what's jiaotong rankings?
shanghai jiao tong university rankings
And?
I was answering milkshake's q. on what the jiaotong rankings were.
total garbage.
the majority of all MBA holders on the street go to HBS, Wharton, Stanford/Columbia. arguably, anywhere else is not worth the opportunity cost if you're returning to IBD.
the majority of MBA holders on the street go to HBS, Wharton, Columbia (and maybe Chicago). Stanford's a great school but not one for bankers.
