Why is USC's MSF staff so rude and unprofessional?

I called them yesterday about any financial aid available to the students. A lady picked up the phone and I asked her if there were any scholarships available as I couldn't find any information about merit scholarships on the MSF website. She gave me a complete different answer: "International students are required to show proof of financial resources, including a bank statement, as part of their application" and that's it.

I asked her again and: "Many of the contacts are made by email, and students may visit the employers, rather than having them come here." Another complete different answer.

I asked her if there was someone else more familiar and experienced that I could talk to regarding financial aid as she was not very helping. Her answer? "There's only one MSF program. The answer is NO". It sounded like yelling at someone. I hanged up because I didn't want to talk to her anymore and she wouldn't give the phone to someone else lol.

My question is do the career services staff also behave like that? The professors/program director? Does everyone there behave like that? I asked a CMC Mfin admit and he told me that's the exact reason why he chose CMC over USC for MSF.

I'm a domestic student who only communicated via email with USC, however they seemed much less welcoming in comparison to Vanderbilt and MIT. One reason why I turned their acceptance down.

I didn't bring up other programs either when communicating with them. I only gave my personal experience communicating with multiple schools in general.

I took a unsolicited trip there in February and made a conscience effort to meet and chat with career services and they seemed quite friendly. After getting an offer later in the month, I called to inquire about financial aid and didn't get anything helpful from the people I spoke with. I then called the Dean, left him a message and he gave me a ring the next day.

Not trying to defend the person on the other line, but she may have been having a rough day. I also heard from a friend in the program that there are/were changes made to the admin staff.

From my experience it really depends on who you speak with. Spoken with a couple of women who are slightly uncommunicative and cannot provide much help, but the program director did answer my emails very quickly and helpfully (including Qs on financial aid). Agree though they are less communicative than Vandy or CMC though... think theyre still improving on the organisation. Anyone accept an offer from them yet? thx
