Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I applied for the Spring Insight Week in London at Morgan Stanley because I come from an engineering background and am currently pursuing a Masters in Management at a top European business school, and thus I felt that it would be the best introduction possible to IB and a good path to a summer internship. I applied in November 2014, and I received an email to undergo a first round 30 min phone interview in early January. I was given two days notice. The first phone interview was with an equity research analyst, a very nice girl. She mostly asked me fit and motivational questions, walk me through your resume, why MS, teamwork and leadership, etc... and then I got to ask her about what she did at the end. I got through to the final round, which was two consecutive phone interviews of 30 min each. The first interview was more technical, I was asked about my excel and financial modeling skills (I don't have any seeing as I am an engineer, but I let him know I learned a lot of softwares over the course of my engineering degree). I was also asked about my knowledge of the markets, pitch me a stock etc... The second interview was again motivational, but with an associate this time, and I was asked the same type of motivation and fit questions as the first interview for around 15 mins. Then for the rest of the time it basically became a discussion about his work and deals he's worked on (M&A).
